Helpful Tips:

What type of yarn is best for making tassel ghosts?

We recommend using chunky yarn (aka super bulky, size 6). We love the look of it, and it creates a really full tassel. You can also use regular yarn, but you’ll have to cut more lengths to create a similar look and size.

How many ghost tassels can I make with 1 ball of yarn?

We made 10 tassel ghosts and there was still quite a bit of yarn leftover. We estimate that you can make about 15 ghosts from one 3.5 ounce (100 gram) ball of yarn.

How can I make a yarn ghost garland?

If you leave off the skewer, these yarn ghosts make the perfect Halloween garland! You can keep the single strand separate and use it to tie your tassel ghosts to a long strand of yarn or twine. You can also form the ghosts right around the long cord, folding them over it and tying the ribbon below. Or, if you’ve already made your ghost according to our instructions above, simply thread a yarn needle and poke the long yarn strand through the middle of the ghost’s head.

What else can I do with a yarn ghost?

These yarn ghosts make fun puppets for pretend play or storytime! But they also look adorable sitting in vases, plants pots, or pencil holders. You can even stick them into pumpkins! Or add a hanger to make little ghost ornaments to place in the window or on a Halloween tree. You can also use these tassel ghosts as decorations for a Halloween wreath.

Make this ghost craft for a charming addition your festive Halloween decor! They’re super cute, rather than scary, making them a great choice for kid friendly decorations. Plus, a DIY yarn ghost is so easy to make, fun for seasoned crafters and beginners alike. These tassel ghosts have a really fun texture and they look so cute spinning around!
