Helpful Tips:
What lollipops are the best for making witch broom lollipops?
We love tootsie pops around here, but any type of lollipop will work. You can use a dum dum or even a flat sucker to make these broom pops. If you use a smaller lollipop you’ll probably want to cut the tissue paper a bit smaller.
Do I have to use tissue paper to make a witch broom lollipop?
We like the look of the tissue paper and the swishing sound it makes when you move the broom around. But you can also use newsprint or brown kraft paper to make this part of the broom. Cut the paper to about 10 by 17 inches. And keep in mind that kraft paper is harder to cut through, so you won’t be able to fold it as many times. If you have a smaller lollipop, crepe paper streamers will also work.
Where can I buy Halloween themed pencils?
We bought our Halloween pencils at the craft store, but you can also find them online. Or check the dollar store once it’s close to Halloween. Our local store has both pens and pencils with fun and spooky decorations on them.
Do I have to use a pencil to make these Halloween lollipops?
If you can’t find pencils you like, or want to give your witch’s broom another look, you can also insert the lollipop stick into a straw. Try to find striped straws in purple, lime green, and/or orange. You can also use a bamboo straw for a realistic looking broom handle. There are two ways can you stop the lollipop from sliding out of the straw. One, wrap tape around the bottom of the lollipop stick to make it bigger. Or two, add some hot glue inside the straw opening to make it smaller.
Not only are these festive witch broom lollipops fun to make, they’re also fun to play with! It’s such a cute and delicious Halloween craft, offering two treats in one fun package.
