Helpful Tips:
What type of paper roll works best for making a flower painting?
Toilet paper rolls are great to use for these flower paintings because they’re already the perfect length to cut and use as a stamp. You can also use paper towel rolls or wrapping paper tubes if you cut them into smaller lengths.
How long do the paper rolls last?
Depending on how fast you work, you should be able to make 3 to 5 paintings with your paper rolls. Keep in mind that the paper rolls absorb the paint and might get soggy after sitting in the paint for awhile.
Do I need to use cardstock to make a flower painting?
For the best results, we recommend using a thicker paper like cardstock or watercolour paper. You could also use thin cardboard from a cereal or cracker box. You can use regular printer paper or construction paper, but the paint goes on quite thick. These thinner papers will wrinkle up after the paint is applied.
What type of paint is best for these paper roll flower paintings?
Any type of pourable paint will work for these flower paintings. We like to use acrylic paint because it comes in so many colours and it dries nice and glossy. If you’re making these paintings with younger kids, you can use washable tempera paint. It doesn’t come in as many colours and it dries with a matte texture, but your paintings will still look great!
Cut different petal shapes and use your favourite colours to make a super pretty flower painting! This is such a fun spring and summer craft, and it would make a great present for Mom, Dad, or the grandparents!
