Can I eat these penguin Easter eggs?
No, we don’t recommend eating the hardboiled eggs afterwards, because of the acrylic paint and the glue. Even though a lot of acrylic paint is non-toxic, it’s not recommended to eat the eggs, since eggshells are permeable (they allow liquid through).
Do I have to use real eggs to make penguin Easter eggs?
Feel free to make these adorable penguins using a fake wooden egg, an egg made from paper, or a styrofoam egg. This will allow you to keep the eggs long term without worrying about them spoiling.
Can I make Easter egg penguins without felt?
Yes, if you don’t have felt you can also use cardstock, coloured paper, construction paper, or craft foam to add the details onto your penguin Easter egg.
What other accessories can I add to my penguin Easter egg craft?
We made a “girl penguin” by adding eyelashes and a small ribbon bow. You can also make a small paper or felt crown for an “emperor penguin”. Or give your penguin Easter egg a smart looking top hat (check out our melting snowman post for instructions on how to make a hat from felt).
