Helpful Tips:
What glue is best to hold these pasta snowflakes together?
Hot glue works really well to connect the pasta, especially since it dries almost instantly. You can also use white school glue or tacky glue. These types of glue will work, but they take a lot longer to dry – which means you’ll have to leave your snowflake on the paper to dry at least overnight before you can handle it.
How do I colour my pasta ornaments?
We used white spray paint to cover our pasta snowflakes. You can also use a brush to paint them with regular acrylic or tempera paint. For a sparkly snowflake, use glitter paint or brush Mod Podge over the snowflake and sprinkle glitter overtop. You can even make your own coloured pasta with food colouring and then use the dyed noodles to make the snowflakes.
What type of noodles work best to make pasta snowflakes?
For our pasta snowflakes we used:
rotelle (aka wagon wheels) shell pasta penne pennette macaroni fusilli
The wagon wheels are probably the easiest to work with, and they stick together really well because of their larger size.
Add ribbon or string and hang these pasta ornaments on the tree as Christmas decorations! You can also make the snowflakes into a garland, or use them as a gift box topper. Copy our snowflake shapes or make your own! With so many different combinations of pasta available, it’s so easy to make each one unique!
