Helpful Tips:
What paint is best for making pasta flowers?
Acrylic paint offers such great coverage on the pasta. We gave our flowers two coats of paint, and we love how bright the colours are! You can also use spray paint on pasta, or even dye the pasta with food colouring before gluing the flower together.
What glue is used for this pasta flower craft?
We used a glue gun to put these pasta flowers together. It works really well, and we like how the glue sets almost immediately. If you’re making these flowers with children, you can use a low-temperature glue gun. It works just like a hot glue gun, but it’s much safer for little hands. If your little ones can’t be trusted with any kind of glue gun (trust your instinct!) you can use tacky glue to make your pasta flowers. Tacky glue works really well, but it takes a long time to dry, so you’ll probably have to leave your pasta flower overnight before you can paint it.
How else can I personalize my pasta flowers craft?
Add a pom pom to the center of the flower, sprinkle glitter on the paint before it dries, or even add the pasta flowers to the front of a card! If you do glue your flowers to cardstock, you can use spaghetti or linguine for the flower stem. You could also use a pipe cleaner for the stem, or even paint one on the paper.
How many types of flowers can you make?
We made five different varieties of flowers, but you can make as many different kinds as you’d like! Look at a picture of your favourite flower and then match that style and shape to the types of pasta you have. It’s all about experimenting and using your creativity!
We loved making pasta snowflakes this winter, so it was an easy decision to make a similar craft celebrating spring and nature. These pasta flowers are such a pretty and colourful craft, and they’re so inexpensive and easy to make!
