Then I’m left with three super pumped, pumpkin covered kids running around the house and I have to wash my own hands, track all of the kids down and give them a good scrub and a wardrobe change, before I’m left alone on the kitchen floor carving the three large pumpkins they convinced me to get for them. I still love doing it, even with all the chaos, but I’m waiting for the fantasy of my three perfect children patiently helping me do all the hard work....
One of the really fun things about moving to a new state is that we get to host our family and friends when they visit. We love the opportunity to be tour guides in our new city, and to share our favorite places and things with our families. My kids get so excited when they know guests are coming, and we all work together to get the house ship-shape before our guests arrive....
When I was a child, my neighbors a few doors down had a commercial bakery in their garage. Not only did they make the whole street smell delicious, they were also very generous about sharing treats with the rest of us. I remember one day in particular when they invited a big group of kids from the neighborhood over to bake sweet rolls. I live in the Midwest where we get a few good snowfalls each year, but not enough for most people to be comfortable with driving in it. The very first step is painting your pinecones and it was surprisingly relaxing. I started day dreaming and before I knew it, I had 3 or 4 finished.
