Not including the keychain hardware, these macrame flower keychains are 5-1/2 inches long and 1 inch wide. And the flowers themselves are each about 7/8 inch long.
What type of cord do you need to make a macrame flower keychain?
Our keychains are made with 2mm cotton macrame cord. But you can easily make a more bulky keychain by using a larger cord size, like 5mm. Be sure to cut the cords longer if you’re working with thicker cord. Or you can also use embroidery floss to create a smaller, more delicate keychain, or use nylon cord for a shiny look.
What knots do you use to make a macrame flower keychain?
You only need 4 simple knots to make our flower knot keychain. You can find instructions for each of them in the written and video tutorials above:
A lark’s head knot is a simple connecting knot, used to attach the pink (flower colour) cords to the green. Use half hitch knots to create lines and texture in a project. Here they make up the tops and bottoms of the flowers. The vertical lark’s head knot is a variation of the lark’s head knot, and it’s used to attach or arrange cords in a vertical direction. Here we use it for the sides of the flowers. A square knot is a strong, secure knot that creates a dense pattern. Its purpose here is to create the sections between the flowers.
