What size macrame cord to make a macrame Christmas tree?
We used a 3mm natural macrame cord to make our macrame Christmas tree. You could also use 2mm, or even a thicker cord, like 5 mm. The size of the cord will determine how thick the center “trunk” of the tree is. Also, if you use a thinner cord you’ll need more 8 inch pieces to make this same size tree, whereas if you use thicker cord you’ll need fewer.
Do I need to use a wooden bead on my macrame Christmas tree?
We love the natural look of the unfinished wood bead and think it adds to the bohemian vibes of this macrame Christmas ornament. However, you can also add a different type of bead. Try a sparkly red bead for a touch of Christmas, or even buy a star shaped bead to look like a tree topper. Or, you can choose to completely leave off the bead and keep the tree made from only macrame cord.
