Helpful Tips:
What kind of wire works best for a beaded plant?
We used 24 gauge jewelry wire for our plant beading project. It’s important to use a wire that’s sturdy enough to hold its shape, but flexible enough to curl and bead easily. We recommend using 20 to 24 gauge jewelry or floral wire. Both types of wire will provide the sturdiness and flexibility required for this cute DIY decor. Floral wire also comes in green, if you prefer not to use a metallic coloured wire.
Can I use different types of beads for my wire and bead plant?
Absolutely! We used 2 different types of beads for our bead plants, but there are so many options for this adorable decor project! Seed beads, pony beads, faceted glass beads, and leaf-shaped beads all work great for this craft. You can even buy variety packs so you can mix and match for each plant you create!
How do I keep the foam from moving around in the miniature beaded plant pot?
If your foam doesn’t fit snugly into the pot, use hot glue or a few dots of tacky glue around the edges before inserting it into the pot. You can also add a bit of crumpled paper or aluminum foil underneath the foam for extra support, if it’s not quite tall enough. This DIY beaded plant is a great way to add some sparkle and greenery to your space without having to remember to water it! It’s fun to make, easy to change up for different styles, and makes a cheerful handmade gift. Whether you keep it on your desk or display it on a windowsill, this little plant is sure to brighten your day!
