What type of glue works best for this handprint sunflower craft?
We used Aleene’s Tacky Glue for this craft since it dries in less than 10 minutes. But you could also use regular white glue for this project. Even a low temperature glue gun would work well to quickly glue everything together. I don’t recommend using a glue stick for this project since the glue isn’t quite strong enough to hold all the heavy paper pieces.
What type of paper works best?
We used colored printer paper for the sunflower (I guess you can call that the “orange” colour?) and green construction paper for the leaves. I recommend using heavier brown card stock for the middle of the card. Construction paper isn’t quite strong enough to keep it’s shape as a card.
Do I have to make my handprint sunflower into a card?
No! If you don’t want to make this into a card, just cut out a brown circle for the middle of the flower and draw some seeds on it. FUN IDEA: Dip your child’s finger in brown paint and make brown finger prints as the seeds for the middle of the flower!
How big is the popsicle stick?
We used jumbo green popsicle sticks from the dollar store for the flower’s stem. They’re the size of a tongue depressor – 1 inch wide and 8 inches long. If you can’t find coloured popsicle sticks, simply paint or colour the popsicle stick green.
