Do I have to embroider the face on the felt jellyfish?
You don’t have to add a face to your jellyfish if you don’t want to, though we think it looks adorable!! And if you want to add a face, but don’t want to embroider it, there are a couple other ways you can do it. First, you can draw on the jellyfish’s face using puffy paint. The small nozzles on these paint bottles make it really easy to control where the paint goes. You can also cut the eyes and mouth from black felt. Then stitch them on, or connect them with hot glue. You could even use googly eyes attached with hot glue.
What stuffing is best for making a felt jellyfish toy?
We like to use polyester fiber-fill stuffing for our felt crafts. It’s relatively inexpensive, easy to find at the craft store or Walmart, and it’s washable. But you can also buy a pillow at the dollar store and open it up to use the stuffing. Or you can re-purpose fabric or felt scraps as the stuffing. Make sure you cut these into small enough pieces so that your jellyfish plush won’t be lumpy.
What else can I use for the felt jellyfish tentacles?
We love the look of the gathered ribbon tentacles, but there are a lot of other options that would work well. Try using: pom pom trim, rick rack trim, or sequin trim. You can also cut wavy strips of felt or fabric, or even add glass beads onto string or twine. For tentacles that keep their shape, wrap fabric around craft wire or use pipe cleaners. You can bend and curve these tentacles however you’d like and they’ll keep their shape!
