What type of egg is best for making farm animal Easter eggs?
We made our farm animal Easter eggs using dyable faux eggs that we got at the dollar store and we found them great to work with! They’re lightweight, easy to paint, and you can keep them long term, since they won’t go bad like a real egg. You can also use real hard boiled eggs, paper eggs, or wooden Easter eggs. Or you can make an animal from a blown out egg shell — though they’re a lot more delicate, so they’re not great if you plan for kids to play with them. (Also, don’t eat the hardboiled eggs if you’re using acrylic paint on them.)
Do I have to use cardstock on these farm animal Easter eggs?
We used cardstock to decorate our animal Easter eggs mostly because it’s what we had on hand. But you can also cut out the template pieces from felt, construction paper, or craft foam.
Do I have to use a paint pen on these Easter egg farm animals?
If you don’t have a paint pen you can also use a regular marker or a gel pen to add details onto your Easter egg animals. Or if you’re comfortable with your painting skills you can also use acrylic paint and a fine tipped paintbrush to create the eyes and nostrils on the eggs.
What other Easter egg animals can I make?
Try decorating your Easter egg like a a goat, goose, cat, or dog! We bet you can use some of the pieces from our free template to create these other adorable animals!
