Check out our video for how to make homemade easy cheesy pizza pockets:

When I was a teenager I used to eat pizza pockets like crazy. Or were they called pizza pops? It’s been so long, that I don’t even remember?? I’d throw two of them into the microwave (isn’t that how all teenager food is cooked?) and that would be my lunch. Oh, the days when we could eat whatever we wanted and not worry about calories… or apparently nutrition. I feel like we ate a lot more processed food back then? I mean, I guess technically these are still a little processed since I used refrigerated pizza crust. But at least you have the option of making your own crust with this recipe. And you can actually load them full of healthy things if you wanted to!

We’re pretty much a pepperoni pizza family at the moment. Actually, that’s not even true. Two out of three of my kids will only eat cheese pizza. But I’m not sure if I can count these as pizza pockets if I only add cheese to them? I sneaked a little bit of pepperoni inside. And right away my 6 year old pulled the pepperoni out of hers. Oh these kids! My oldest daughter (the one who will actually eat pepperoni) gave these a thumbs up and a smile. She was busy watching TV, so I was impressed I got any reaction at all. Do your kids turn into zombies in front of the TV? Or is that just mine?

Homemade Easy Cheesy Pizza Pockets

The full printable recipe is at the end of this post, but here’s what you’ll need:

Pizza Crust Pizza Sauce (I used leftover spaghetti sauce) Pepperoni Mozzarella Cheese

These are soooooo easy to make! Seriously, in less than 20 minutes you can make a fun little lunch or dinner that the kids will love!

Lay the pizza crust on a sheet of parchment paper (or a floured surface) and roll it with a rolling pin to flatten it out. Then cut it once through the middle to make 2 wide rectangles. Then cut those rectangles into equal thirds to make 6 squares like in the photo below.

Add a little bit of pizza sauce, some cheese and pepperoni to one half of the squares. I could only fit 2 pepperoni into mine, but you could probably fit more if you cut the pepperoni into quarters.

Fold the pizza pockets in half to make triangles, then use a fork to seal the edges.

This part is optional, but I brushed the top of each one with a little bit of oil, then I sprinkled on some oregano leaves and more mozzarella cheese.

Bake them until they turn golden brown. Some of the cheese melted out, but for the most part these homemade pizza pockets kept everything inside.

Look at that melted cheese! They were so good! Like a little bit of comfort food – And surprisingly way better than I remember the frozen ones tasting! I ate three for lunch today.

It was one of those days where I was taking the photographs at lunch time, and it was killing me to not be able to eat them! I had the camera in one hand and the pizza pocket in the other hand, with all that gooey, melted cheese. And all I wanted to do was slowly move the pizza pocket towards my mouth! Mmmmm…

Serve them with your favourite pasta sauce for dipping – preferably something that isn’t very chunky. I used Hunt’s Thick and Rich Pasta Sauce and it was perfect!

These easy cheesy homemade pizza pockets are SO EASY and they taste amazing! You can load them with your favourite pizza toppings and in less than 20 minutes you have a fun, delicious and kid friendly meal! They’re great for lunch or dinner and best of all, they’re kid approved! If you’re looking for more fun and easy recipe ideas, check out our Easy Caprese Calzones.
