What size honeycomb paper ornaments do the templates make?
Here are the sizes of honeycomb ornaments you can make by using the above templates:
Ball: 4 inch diameter and 4 inches tall Bell: 4-1/2 inch diameter (at the bottom) and 4-1/2 inches tall Egg: 3 inch diameter and 4 inches tall Icicle: 3 inch diameter (at the widest part) and 7 inches tall Lantern: 4 inch diameter and 5 inches tall
But you can make different sizes of ornaments simply by scaling the pattern smaller or larger before printing.
What paper is best for making a honeycomb ornament?
We used both printer paper and cardstock to make our honeycomb ornaments, and both options worked very well. You can also use construction paper, though the finished product won’t look quite as clean and elegant. Thinner paper is, of course, easier to fold than cardstock. This makes the coloured printer paper a better option for smaller ornaments. But we recommend cardstock for a sturdier ornament that will last longer. The cardstock ornaments we made feel a lot stronger than the paper ones. We suspect they’ll hold up a lot better in storage, allowing you to make ornaments that will last for years to come.
How else can I decorate my paper honeycomb ornament?
You can change up the look of your honeycomb ornaments by using patterned paper, or even 2 different colours of paper. Or add wood beads, jingle bells, or pearls to the ornament hanger. You can even add a longer string so that these decorations dangle below the ornament. Or make a colourful tassel from macrame cord!
Making a honeycomb ornament is easier than you might think! These beautiful DIY Christmas decorations look super intricate, but we promise they’re incredibly simple and relaxing to create. These paper ornaments will definitely add a pretty finishing touch to your tree. You’ll want to make them in all different sizes and colours!
