Helpful Tips:

What are the benefits of the ingredients in this DIY cuticle cream?

All of the ingredients in this cuticle cream are super nourishing for your cuticles, and great for the health of your nails. Here are some benefits for each of the ingredients:

Beeswax: This creates a protective barrier on the skin. It prevents moisture loss by locking it in, and on a practical note it helps to thicken the cream. Shea Butter: Strengthens, heals, and helps rebuild nails and it softens the cuticles. Coconut oil: This ingredient helps to prevent hangnails. It also moisturizes and strengthens the cuticles. Vitamin E oil: Use this to promote nail growth and prevent cracked cuticles and dry skin around the nail bed. Sweet almond oil: Great for retaining moisture, sweet almond oil softens and smooths cuticles, giving them a glossy shine.

How much does this recipe for cuticle cream make?

This cuticle cream is a 100 gram recipe, which fills a 4 ounce container (1/2 cup). We split our recipe into four 1 ounce tins.

Do I have to add a scent to this cuticle butter?

Adding a scent to the cuticle butter is completely optional. Essential oils add a nice fragrance to the cream, and we find it adds to the luxurious feeling, but it’s definitely not required.

Can I swap out some of the oils in this cuticle cream?

Yes, you can definitely play around with the oils you add into your DIY cuticle butter. Try adding mango butter instead of shea butter, or jojoba oil instead of sweet almond oil. You may have to experiment with the measurements of oils to get the same texture of cream, but substitutions are definitely welcome!

Do I need a scale to make this cuticle cream?

We do recommend using an electronic kitchen scale to measure ingredients, since it’s the most accurate way to get the right ratio of ingredients. However, you can also use measuring cups and spoons and still get a pretty good cuticle butter. Here are the amounts we recommend:

1 teaspoon coconut oil 1 tablespoon beeswax pellets 1/4 cup shea butter (packed down) 1 tablespoon sweet almond oil 1 teaspoon Vitamin E oil

Make this simple and natural recipe to give your nails a break. This cuticle cream is the perfect remedy for when cold weather is tough on skin. Cuticle butter replenishes the oils in hands and smooths cuticles, a perfect dose of TLC!
