Can I make these clay pot animals without cardstock?
Yes, you can also use construction paper, felt, or craft foam to add the animal details onto the clay pots.
What glue is best for attaching the details to my animal flower pots?
We used glue tape, aka crafter’s tape, which is fairly strong and worked well for this project. But you can also use tacky glue or hot glue!
What type of scissors are best for cutting out the small pieces for these clay pot animals?
You can definitely use any scissors you have, but we love using detail scissors for smaller, more intricate tasks. These scissors are very sharp and have shorter, thin blades, making it easy to navigate small corners and lines.
What can I do with the clay pot animals?
Use these animal clay pots as a candy dish or a fun way to display Easter eggs! You can also plant a faux succulent in them, or even use them for pretend play. You can also use these flower pots for real plants, but if you do, we recommend using craft foam instead of cardstock, because of the contact with water. A primer beneath the paint and a sealer on top is also recommended if you’re using these pots with real plants to make them last as long as possible.
These clay pot animals are inexpensive to make, using terracotta pots from the dollar store, and the end result is so cute!! And all you need is a simple coat of paint and a few details from our free template!
